The NAACP ALABAMA STATE CONFERENCE, The NAACP Baldwin County Branch and the NAACP Brewton/Escambia County Branch urge a complete investigation of the hanging death of Mr. Tanaka Moore, A 30 year old African American found dead by hanging on July 7, 2006 in the Marlow/Fish River Area of Baldwin County, Alabama.
Mr. Moore of Daphne, AL was found hanging in the home of a white co-worker. The Baldwin County Sheriffs Dept. is in charge of the investigation. Mr. Moore’s Aunt, Mrs. Rhonda Reed, with whom he lived, stated the Sheriffs Dept. is indicating suicide. She stated that she knew her nephew well and that he was like her own son and there was no way he would have killed himself. The NAACP is requesting investigative assistance in this case by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation (ABI) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The NAACP thinks there may be foul play in this death and the possibility of the violation of Federal Civil Rights Laws. A complete and unbiased investigation is very necessary in this matter.
