Press Release – For Immediate Release

The NAACP investigates Layoffs in
Henry County Board of Education

“The NAACP Alabama State Conference is deeply disturbed by the layoff of teachers and teacher-aides in the Henry County School System”, said NAACP State President Edward Vaughn. The Henry County NAACP Branch is also concerned about this matter.

Min. Dorothea Culver, President of the Henry County NAACP is investigating this situation to insure that there are no civil rights violations.

With the recent passage of the State education budget, it appears that money is not an issue. The NAACP investigation will focus on the rights of non-tenured teachers and teacher-aides, because the layoffs affect non-tenured employees, some who have 20 years of service in support positions, and others who have had impeccable records prior to the layoff.

For more information on this matter, contact Min. Dorothea Culver, President, Henry County Branch NAACP at (334) 441 7103.
