Congratulations Alabama State Conference on 12 Awards at the Regional Convention

The Alabama State Conference swept the awards at the Region 5 convention in Jackson, Ms. in March 2008. Our youth and College Division under the able leadership of President Leonard Phillips of Alabama A&M University won a total of 7 Big Awards! Our Adult Division won 5 awards for a grand total of 12! You go Alabama State Conference. We topped all the states in Region 5!!! Here are the Awards - - -

Youth & College Division 

1. The Ruby Hurley Memorial Advisor of the year Award- Sonya Smith – American Indian Youth Council - Dothan, AL
2. The Kelly Alexander Sr. Memorial Leadership Award – Leonard Phillips, AL A&M University, Normal, AL
3. College Chapter of the Year Award – University of Alabama at Birmingham – Birmingham, AL
4. College Chapter of the Year Award – Alabama A&M University, Normal, AL
5. State Youth & College Division of the Year Award – Alabama Youth and College Division Alabama State Conference, Dothan, Alabama
6. Youth & College Communications Award – University of Alabama at Birmingham – Birmingham, Alabama
7. The Best New Youth Unit – The American Indian Youth Council – Dothan, Alabama

Adult Division

3. The Medgar Evers Award – Jimmy Gardner President Mobile Branch – Mobile, AL
